The village has two butchers, an excellet boulangerie, one bank - with outside cash point, a beauty salon, hairdressers, a very good Intermarche supermarket, petrol station, bar and tabac/newsagents with English newspapers. There is also a Doctor and Dentist in the village.
Les Glycines is within walking distance of The Rivaselle restaurant which is on the beautiful Canal du Midi ,and close to the Tourist office, but a little further along the Canal or within a few mins drive to the next village is Homps which is also on the Canal Du Midi and offers a freat selection of restaurants either side of the port.
La Redorte is set in the middle of the renowned vineyards of the Minervois and also offers wonderful walks along the Canal Du Midi which intersects the village ,as does the river L'Argent Double which runs past the house.
There is a bus and taxi service in the village ,and Carcassone is about twenty minutes away with Narbonne and the sandy beaches of the Med about 40 minutes away.
The house is just on the edge of the village and within waliking distance of all amenities, there is a large garden with barbecue facilities and terrace to offer everyone the peace and enjoyment of this old Vigneron's house, originally a meeting house for people who crossed the bridge to work in the Vineyards onthe other side of the river.
Boats can be hired from Somail and there are boat trips from Homps.
Water sports and swimming can also be found at the Lac de Jouarres, ten minutes from Les Glycines.

A short drive from Homps is Olonzac where you will find a superb market on Tuesday morning selling fresh regional produce, homemade Salamis, Paellas, roast chickens, cloths, bags, shoes and much more and all very good quality another - 'Not to be missed' For those of you who like to be around water, whether for fishing, bathing or water sports - visit the Lac du Jouares just out of Hompes. At Bize a little further on is the olive factory - L'Oulibo where the regions olives and olive products can be purchased together with olive soaps, olive wood products, olive trees etc.
