The village of La Redorte has everything you need within walking distance from our house - Les Glycines.
The village has two butchers, an excellet boulangerie,two banks - one with outside cash point, a beauty salon, hairdressers, a very good Intermarche supermarket, petrol station, bar and tabac/newsagents with English newspapers. There is also a Doctor and Dentist in the village.
Les Glycines is within walking distance of The Rivaselle restaurant which is on the beautiful Canal du Midi but a little further along the Canal or within a few mins drive to the next village - Hompes. At Hompes on the banks of the Canal are three other restaurants all providing different types of French cuisine
Apart from sampling the excellent local wines! There are endless other things to do from horse riding, canoeing or potholing for the more adventurous, to visiting the local Cathar castles or soaking up the atmosphere of the local markets;(olonzac/Tueday/Narbonne/Sunday/Carcassone/Saturday)
The local village of Trebes and Homps hire out canal boats if you want to spend a couple of days exploring the canal du midi or simply just visiting the villages nestled along the canal with their excellent small restaurants offering good value for money for all the family. For those wanting to know more about the vineyards and wine production, there are organized tours with wine tasting (ask at the local tourist offices) or walks in the mountains to cool off after a day on the beach!
The wildlife safari park of SIEGAN is a must for all the family and a little further on you're on the Spanish border, with a visit to the wonderful DALI museum a must !
For many this is all too much, and a good book, a glass of La Liviniere wine and relaxing in the garden with the sound of the crickets is just enough!
